Triathlon Magazine: deboer launches new Fjord 4.0

Premium wetsuit manufacturer deboer has announced a new version of its flagship Fjord wetsuit – version 4.0 is now available for pre-orders. The latest iteration of the Fjord model went through rigorous testing at the T3 Top Training Centre Swim Flume in Tenerife, with more than 20 pro triathletes pitching in with feedback on the development of the new suit. (Pictured above, Daniel Baekkegard wears the new suit on his way to a third-place finish at T100 London.)

We look forward to reviewing the suit in more detail once they become available – for now here’s what the company has told us about the new suit:

  • There’s a new entry and exit system to make it easier to get into and out of the suit.
  • The new single seam shoulder panel provides more flexibility in the shoulders
  • There’s a new “carbon-inspired patterned panel” on the shoulders which “significantly reduces drag, enhancing hydrodynamic efficiency.”
  • The suit is designed to put athletes in the optimal position in the water to improve overall performance.

Here are some more “features” of the new suit:

  • Advanced X-Skin neoprene with enhanced buoyancy and flexibility
  • Optimized fit for enhanced oxygen uptake and breathing
  • C8 coated, Hydrophobic Super-Stretch comfort lining
  • YKK Stainless Steel bottom-up runner zipper
  • Hand glued with double blind stitched seams
  • Suitable for cool temperatures down to 16° C / 61° F
  • Approved for use in Ironman, World Triathlon, and ETU events
