We have partnered with the Xtreme Triathlon folks (yes, the famous NORSEMAN race in Norway) to develop the new NORSEMAN 3.0, taking safety and comfort as the priorities, without neglecting the best race performance. This is the best of both worlds: a competitive wetsuit that can double as an extreme environment swimming wetsuit when combined with deboer’s Polar Kit. The Polar Kit itself has been updated with a new Hooded Vest developed with the help of the X-Tri science team.

The NORSEMAN 3.0 is a thermal lined wetsuit designed for athletes who never back down from a challenge. We’ve incorporated the same zero resistance shoulder movement technology found in our classic OCEAN wetsuit and the technological advances of our new FJORD 3.0 to create a no-compromises wetsuit. We have also updated the Ocellus pattern on the NORSEMAN 3.0 to make the wetsuit more visible from a greater distance. When the NORSEMAN 3.0 is paired with the Polar hoodie, gloves, and socks it will keep you warm in water down to 6°C/43°F in even more comfort and peace of mind.

Explore deboer technology

THERMAFUR

ThermaFur is a specially designed thermal lining developed in conjunction with deboer engineers and some of the top athletes in the world. ThermaFur reflects the athletes body heat to keep them warm in cold-water swims. ThermaFur is a polyester based brushed thermal lining with a water repellent quick dry coating. The water repellent quick dry coating allows ThermaFur to be considerably lighter and more effective than traditional thermal wetsuit linings.

ULTRAFLEX ™

Warmer than our other materials yet is still incredibly flexible and highly durable. Our exclusive polymer is fingernail tear proof. It has advanced shape memory, 4-way super stretch, and is lined with an ultra-flexible insulating lining also with 4-way stretch.

X-SKIN™ - HBF LIMESTONE LAYERED SCALE ARRAY NEOPRENE

We extensively studied scientific research papers in flow dynamics to create the most advanced surface available today. While there are many techniques to help your swim performance, decreasing drag actually is the fastest way to improve in the water. Increasing your speed in the water impacts drag exponentially: it means that swimming twice as fast creates four times as much drag.

NEW SLEEVE DESIGN

The sleeves of the NORSEMAN 3.0 have been completely redesigned. Flexibility has been maximized from just below the elbow to the shoulder by utilizing our renowned 1.5mm UltraFlex neoprene. This 1.5mm UltraFlex sleeve is paired with our new Propulsion Forearm. The Propulsion Forearm consists of 5mm silicone coated double laminated neoprene that allows an athlete to catch and pull more water than ever before. A short zipper has been added to facilitate slipping the Polar Kit Gloves under the forearm neoprene, thus reducing water entry.

NEW LEG DESIGN

The legs of the NORSEMAN 3.0 have been redesigned with cold water swimming safety in mind. They are now 10 cm longer (this varies depending on the wetsuit size) and a short zipper has been added to facilitate slipping the Polar Kit Socks under the ankle neoprene, thus reducing water entry.

REDESIGNED COLLAR

The front of the collar on the NORSEMAN 3.0 combines 3.5mm GlideSkin neoprene with a soft super-stretch material to seal out water, and be more comfortable & durable. The collar and Hooded Vest combination is the ultimate in cold water swimming safety. The Hooded Vest with its new liquid seal has in effect practically eliminated any water penetration in the wetsuit. Its thermal lining decreases heat loss, as well as its new color combo doubles as a significant increase in your safety in open water.

AIRFLOAT ™

Made from our HBF-Limestone neoprene (Highly Buoyant, Flexible, and lightweight 48 cell neoprene). We conducted studies to understand how adding buoyancy can affect swim position. Based on these studies, we carefully positioned these panels to create maximum stability, minimize rotation and ensure better balance.

OCELLUS PATTERN

The Ocellus pattern increases the visibility of a swimmer. The Ocellus pattern is strategically placed on each shoulder, the point of the elbows, and the back of the calves so that a swimmer can be spotted from a distance by another swimmer, a spectator on shore, or someone on a water vessel. The Monarch color was chosen because it has been proven to subconsciously trigger an alert signal in anyone who sees it - this will help keep the athlete safer in open water.

GLIDESKIN ™

Our unique glide layer coating technology provides exceptionally low water friction and increases hydrodynamics. In addition, it reduces resistance when changing out of your wetsuit, thus, helping to save precious time during your race transition. This coating aids in the reduction of fingernail tears.

YKK ZIPPER

We only use YKK stainless steel zippers which close from bottom to top. This makes opening the wetsuit and getting out much easier and therefore, faster in transition.

More information on how to properly secure the GlideSkin neck closure can be viewed here.

Before Use

Care should be taken when donning the wetsuit to avoid damaging the neoprene skin with fingernails. Always use the pads of your fingers to put on a suit. Do not pinch small folds and pull, make sure to grab large folds of the suit when pulling. Small cuts or tears can be repaired with wetsuit glue.

During Use

The exterior surface of your wetsuit is manufactured with a hydrophobic outer skin designed to reduce surface friction (drag.) It is designed to withstand the normal wear and tear during a normal swim session. Care should be taken to avoid contact with sharp rocks or any other sharp objects. Small cuts or tears do not affect wetsuit performance.

After Use

Fully unzip the wetsuit before removing one section at a time. Avoid contact with sharp fingernails. Salt and chlorine water can damage the neoprene drying it out and affecting its flexibility. To ensure continued flexibility it is important to soak your wetsuit in lukewarm, fresh water for at least 5 minutes after each use, then thoroughly rinse it with fresh water. To dry, place the wetsuit inside out on a wide hanger in a ventilated place, away from direct sunlight. Maintenance is important, therefore it is recommended to wash your wetsuits with a specialized antibacterial soap every few sessions.

Storage

Wetsuit material can develop permanent creases if left folded for an extended period of time. Therefore it is best to store your wetsuit laying flat. Alternatively, hang it on a specially designed wetsuit hanger, thick coat hanger, or as wide and thick a hanger as you can find. Consider the weight of a wet or damp wetsuit and avoid deformation around the shoulders. Some like to roll their wetsuits, but do not fold it under any circumstances.

Zippers and loops

Zippers are designed to be pulled open and closed in a straight line. Avoid pulling at excessive angles. Ask for assistance to zip and unzip as needed.

New deboer wetsuits come with an innovative loop near the bottom of the zipper to help athletes put on their wetsuit correctly. What’s with the loop? This loop was designed to help ease the cumbersomeness of zipping up your wetsuit on your own, but also to protect it from the wear and tear of over-tugging. Simply, slide your thumb into the loop and pull down while zipping up your wetsuit by pulling up on the zipper cord with the other arm. This simple addition provides counter pressure to position your zipper correctly as it closes.

Chemicals & Solvent

Avoid contact with oil, gasoline, aerosols or any solvents as they degrade rubber and plastic materials. Do not use any type of alcohol, or lubricant.
