Gustav Iden defends his IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship title at IM 70.3 St. George
It took an extra year after COVID cancelled much of the 2020 race season, but Gustav Iden defended his crown to claim his second IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in St. George, Utah.
Gustav combined a 24:54 swim, 1:58:59 bike, and a 1:11:32 run to cruise to victory in 3:37:13. Gustav broke away mid-way through the bike and never looked back.
Fellow Norwegian, Kristian Blummenfelt, came out of the water in the lead group, but suffered a lengthy mechanical on the bike that took him out of the race.
Ben Kanute was first out of the water in his Tsunami 1.0 Speed Suit in 23:48, and finished in 8th.
In the female race Skye Moench finished in 6th in 4:12:50, and Holly Lawrence finished in 8th in 4:16:03.
