Frodeno takes the IMEU Championship and Ryf dominates at IM Austria

Jan Frodeno wins the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt

Jan Frodeno set the pace in the swim and lead out of the water, swimming in the soon-to-be-released deboer Tsunami swimskin. Frodeno then led throughout the bike and had the fastest run on a very hot day to win his 3rd Ironman European Championship in front of a home crowd in Frankfurt Germany.

With this win, Frodeno has validated his spot on the Ironman World Championship start line in Kona on October 12, 2019.

Daniela Ryf dominates Ironman Austria on a wild weather day in Klagenfurt

Daniela Ryf was first out of the water, swimming in her deboer Tsunami 1.0 swimskin. On the bike, Ryf took off at a blistering pace and never looked back to win Ironman Austria in 8:52:20.

The race was not without drama. Approximately 7-hours 30-minutes into the race the temperature dropped and the skies opened up for 30-minutes. Most spectators looked for shelter while the athletes had to endure heavy rain and cold temperatures.

Daniela Ryf will now set her sights on the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France in September, and the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii in October.

Matt Russell races the Ironman European Championship and Challenge Roth on back-to-back weekends

Matt Russell made the most of his trip to Germany by racing two iconic Iron-distance races on back-to-back weekends.

At the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt, Germany, Russell withstood temperatures that reached 38°C to run his way into 6th place and secure his spot for the 2019 Ironman World Championships. The following weekend Russell raced Challenge Roth against a stacked field and managed to finish 9th.

Russell has qualified for Kona but still plans to race Ironman Lake Placid on July 28, 2019. Russell considers Lake Placid a hometown race, growing up in Upstate New York.
